Definition

Urbax is an urban development simulation (role game) led by one or two professional game masters with the help of a computer program.

The players simulate various decisive roles: local council, developers, entrepreneurs, housing association (5 to 7 teams gathering 15 to 20 trainees in total).

The computer program simulates the urban context, leading the game sequentially, recording events and giving on-the-go information about the state of the system.

The educational product comprises the simulation software and a case study (see available case studies in the Versions tab).

The simulation module is designed to balance realism, playability and portability in different national situations. It thus makes reality simpler in order to make it intelligible for trainees who are taking active roles positions.

The role game is implemented by certified facilitators who have both a culture of urban planning and development and the ability to lead group dynamics.
